DTC Protolab

Our most valuable resources are our Team, the possibility to do your PhD at DTC, and our unique DTC Protolab spaces and equipment at the THA campus and the THA TTZ hall north of Augsburg.

Research for innovative building structures, construction and fabrication processes requires highly specialised equipment. Our research does not only require talented researchers, office spaces and laptops – but also a large variety of machines, cranes, robots, tools, and materials.

To build prototypes and experiment with prefabrication procedures, we need a large hall space to assemble segments of structure, or even entire structure, protected from the weather under a roof. The pictures below show two lab spaces that we are using, one is near the main THA campus in Augsburg, equipped with a KUKA KR210 Robot Cell for wood processing.

The second space that we are using is a 1000 square meter large hall in Dasing, about 25min from the main campus, north of Augsburg. This large hall is equipped with two 10 ton ceiling mounted cranes, multiple KUKA robots, a Hundegger Robot Drive 1300 machine, multiple load testing machines, as well as lots of periphery such as smaller tools and machine, fork lifts etc. This unique research space allows for groundbreaking new possibilities in digital fabrication research.
